Transfer rumours - 2/6/07

After already signed Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson, Manchester United is making inquiries into Bolton's Nicolas Anelka.
According to
The Guardian, Ferguson's 'initial targets had included Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o and Dimitar Berbatov of Tottenham Hotspur, though they have effectively been priced out of his budget following this week's spending.
'Another highly-rated striker, the Ajax forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who scored 23 goals in 34 league appearances in Holland last term, has indicated he would prefer to remain in the Eredivisie for a further season.'
Following their triple purchase,
chief executive David Gill has indicated that the bulk of the club's 'major' transfer work has now been completed.

So what is Chelsea buying?
The club have agreed personal terms on a four-year contract worth £50,000 a week with Claudio Pizarro, the Peru striker, who will join them on July 1.
According to
The Times. 'Pizarro will become the third player to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer on a free transfer, with Steve Sidwell joining from Reading and Alex, the Brazil defender, returning from a three-year loan at PSV Eindhoven.'

The Sun carries quotes from Luis Felipe Scolari's agent indicating the Chelski job is Big Phil's if he wants it.
'Sources close to Scolari insist the approach took place in the last three weeks. That would mean Mourinho could yet lose his job this summer.'
