Robert Lewandowski for Manchester United?

Jeremy Cross and Duncan Wright write in The Star...
Lewandowski willing to snub Bayern for UnitedRobert Lewandowski is willing to snub Bayern Munich to land a dream move to Manchester United this summer. The Poland and Borussia Dortmund striker is one of the hottest properties in Europe and enhanced his reputation with a four-goal salvo against Real Madrid on Wednesday. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been tracking the 24-year-old since last summer, as Starsport exclusively revealed. Fergie sent scouts to watch him again this week as Lewandowski ripped Real apart in the first leg of the Champion League semi-final in Dortmund. Lewandowski, who has no get-out clause in his current contract, has refused to sign a new deal with the German champions and has agreed a deal in principle with Bayern. But it is understood Dortmund bosses are loathe to let him join their main rivals so soon after allowing Mario Gotze to join Bayern in a £31m deal. Gotze has become a pariah with Dortmund fans and Lewandowski fears similar treatment if he follows his team-mate to the Allianz Arena. He has told friends his heart is set on coming to the Premier League and that United are his No.1 choice ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea.
Plenty of other papers comment on the Lewandowski rumours today including The Sun, whose writers Neil Custis and Antony Kastrinaiks have put together an exclusive story claiming the Reds “must put together a £38million package to land the Polish ace”. Meanwhile, The Telegraph also features a quote from the striker’s agent, Maik Barthel, who says: “We have reached an agreement with a club and intend [him] to move this summer.”

City go to Upton Park on Saturday for their first game since losing the title after just one season, and Allardyce reckons that the reason United are back at the top of their game again is Alex Ferguson.
The West Ham boss does not hide the fact that he is good friends with Fergie and he knows that the United supremo has suffered setbacks before, but he has the knowhow to bounce back again making sure that United remain the most successful club in English football.
Allardyce also believes that Fergie will remain at number one for some time to come, he told reporters at a press conference:  "You're always chasing the master and he has been the master for so long - it is difficult to sustain success against him.
"Whenever he has a challenge, he may lose out once, but he comes back with flying colours. He's had it withChelsea and before that Arsenal."
