"Real Madrid will be a stepdown" Steve Coppell warns Ronaldo

In a report by Goal.com, Reading manager, Steve Coppell advise Ronaldo that joining Real Madrid will be a stepdown!

The saga surrounding Ronaldo’s future remains utterly unresolved, with Real Madrid remaining as fervent in their pursuit as United are steadfast and constant in their rebuff.

The Portuguese winger has always dreamed of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu and seemed keen to make the switch this summer, but recent reports suggest the 23-year-old is having second thoughts.

And Coppell has sought to nurture that seed of doubt by claiming that the Red Devils are a level above los Merengues – and every other club on the planet, for that matter.

"I can only repeat what Tommy Docherty said to me," the ex-United midfielder replied when asked about Ronaldo’s situation.

"I will never forget it. Many years ago when I signed for United he said any move from United is a move down. I very much echo those thoughts."
