Sir Alex Fergusion on clash with Arsenal.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to the title chase and considers Saturday’s top-of-the table clash with Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal likely to be the ‘key match’ in deciding the Premiership race this season.

The Red Devils, who had won the title last season to end a wait of four years, are equal on points with the unbeaten Gunners, who however have a game in hand.

"It's still an open race but Arsenal have had a great start and they're the ones we are chasing at the moment," Ferguson told the Daily Star.

"Everything is coming together, as I thought it would, and in good time to take on Arsenal in what could be a key match in our title defence.

"The main thing is I know we will chase them with great fervour and determination."

Sporting’s Soares Franco Rules Out January Transfer For Man United & Arsenal Target Miguel Veloso

by Niraj Prabhu on Mon, 2007-10-29

Manchester United and Arsenal will have to wait at least till the summer for Miguel Veloso as Sporting Lisbon president Felipe Soares Franco ruled out a January transfer.

According to reports, the 21-year-old is a target for Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils as well as Arsene Wenger’s Gunners, while Serie A giants Juventus and Internazionale are also said to be interested in the versatile Portuguese international, who has a £20million release clause in his contract.

Veloso, who had recently suggested he would love to go to Old Trafford, had agreed to stay at least 18 months with the Portuguese club when he signed his new contract in January 2007, according to Soares Franco.

Soares Franco said: "There really does not exist a chance of the player's exit. This is down to the deal he signed last season - it is impossible.

"We are not interested in negotiating this subject because Miguel Veloso is one of our main players for this campaign."
